2013 Valentine's Day Top 20 Music Countdown: #10-1

10.) “Dreamlover”
Mariah Carey
Old school Mariah was classy and adorable, especially when she sang about the ups of being in love, all of her dreams coming true.
“I wanna share forever with you baby.”

9.) “I Could Fall In Love”
Selena
Selena’s English crossover never came to us in full because of her untimely death, but at least we were left with a taste of her would-be sound and some heartfelt emotion in both English and Spanish.
“Siempre estoy sonando en ti. Besando mis labios. Imaginando que me amas. Como yo podia amar a ti.”

8.) “Bleeding Love”
Leona Lewis
Who knew that blood analogies could be so romantic and heartfelt?
“But something happened for the very first time with you. My heart melted to the ground, found something true. And everyone’s looking ‘round thinking I’m going crazy.”

7.) “Adorn”
Miguel
With all of the sweet, romantic gestures, you still need some room for a little somethin’ something’…
“And if they try to break us down don't let that affect us.”

6.) “Un-thinkable (I’m Ready)”
Alicia Keys & Drake
There’s nothing more beautiful than noticing that time in your life when you’ve gone through what you’ve needed to go through and you know in your heart that you’re ready to take that dive into something real.
“Time is only wasting, so why wait for eventually?”

5.) “At Your Best (You Are Love)”
Aaliyah
Aaliyah brings the sultry and the sweet to this old school classic with her high falsetto and sincerity. At her best, it’s lovely!
“You’re a positive motivating force within my life.”

4.) “For Once In My Life”
Stevie Wonder
There’s nothing like a little Stevie Wonder to get you up and moving to the sounds of love, sidestepping with your special person and knowing that things are so much better now for the first time in life.
“As long as I know I have love, I can make it!”

3.) “I’ll Be There”
The Jackson 5
Michael and his brothers bring us their sweet promise to step in for the man who just couldn’t hack it.
“I’ll reach out my hand to you. I’ll have faith in all you do.”

2.) “We Found Love”
Rihanna
Rihanna gets us up on our feet and into the club with this beautiful anthem of love found in hopeless places.
“It’s the way I’m feeling I just can’t deny…”

1.) “Love On Top”
Beyoncé
And leave it to Beyoncé to get us up on feet to dance for the one who makes us feel complete, to the one who makes us want to dance, to the one who makes us feel on top of the world.
“Everybody asks me why I’m smiling out from ear to ear.”

2013 Singles Awareness Day (S.A.D.) Top 20 Music Countdown (#10-1)

10.) “Epiphany (I’m Leaving)”
Chrisette Michele
Yeah, Chrisette knows when the time is right to get up and get on up outta there!
“How many times did I fall for your lies? How many times did I sit home and cry?”

9.) “Fuck You”
Cee-Lo Green
Nothing says bitter like this Cee-Lo classic.
“Being in love with yo’ ass ain’t cheap!”

8.) “The One I Gave My Heart To”
Aaliyah
Aaliyah brings the heartbreaking questions we all ask ourselves when something we thought felt so good turns out to be so bad. How could they???
“I thought we had forever. I can’t understand…”

7.) “Take A Bow”
Rihanna
RiRi brings her feisty and sassy self to this goodbye anthem for all those players who thought they got the best of us, those players who ended up bowing out in the end. This is for those weak ones who just couldn’t hack it, the ones who just couldn’t keep up.
“You’re so ugly when you cry. Please. Just cut it out…”

6.) “My, Myself and I”
Beyoncé
Queen Bey knows how to make us move on the dance floor, but she also knows how to make us move emotionally, especially when it comes to moving on and figuring out that after a failed relationship, all you need is yourself!
“It took me some time, but now I moved on.”

5.) “Breakdown”
Mariah Carey & Bone Thugs-N-Harmony
You try to put on a mask and prove to everyone that you’re ok. But sooner or later, you just need to let it all out!
“But in reality I’m slowly losing my mind. Underneath the guise of a smile, gradually I’m dying inside…”

4.) “Leave (Get Out)”
JoJo
It’s songs like this that really show that you have the power to take a stand and get them out of your life and tell them to GET OUT!
“You said that you would treat me right, but you were just a waste of time.”

3.) “Gone”
*NSYNC
Their presence still lingers even after they leave, and it’s heartbreaking to think of at times.
“Was it something I said to make you turn away, to make you walk out and leave me cold?”

2.) “I Don’t Need A Man”
The Pussycat Dolls
There are times when I sing this song to make myself feel better about my single life…
“I want a love that’s for real. And without that, no deal!”

1.) “All By Myself”
Celine Dion
But then there are more times when I sing this song and cry myself to sleep!
“Sometimes I feel so insecure…”

2013 Valentine's Day Top 20 Music Countdown: #20-11

Putting aside the bitterness of Singles Awareness Day, there still is a holiday all about love…so here’s some more of my favorite songs to celebrate the lovely occasion!

20.) “Tonight (Best You Ever Had)”
John Legend & Ludacris
While it may not be a song meant for a love for all eternity, Valentine’s Day sometime is just about the moment and what happens later that night! (wink face)
“Nobody come close to me and you together…”

19.) “L-O-V-E”
Nat King Love
Nothing spells the adorable meaning of love better than this Nat King Cole classic, proving that a little class and romanticism can still be possible.
“Love was made for me and you!”

18.) “As Long As You Love Me”
Justin Bieber & Big Sean
Bringing it back to this day and age, the Biebers has us all Beliebing that nothing else matters to him as long as we love him and this sick beat!
“I’ll be your Hova. You can be Destiny’s Child on the scene girl.”

17.) “You & I Both”
Jason Mraz
Even back in the beginning, Jason Mraz was a beautiful poet who could spin his words to really emphasize the beauty of two people together. Nothing stronger than the two words “you” and “I” (see Stevie Wonder).
“I’ll remember everything you sang…”

16.) “Someone To Call My Lover”
Janet Jackson
A sweet dose of pop perfection from new millennium Janet is just as sweet as she was back in the day. This call for her lover is danceable and adorable in more ways than one, just waiting for him to show up someday. Maybe she’ll find him driving down Ventura Highway? (wink face if you get that reference!)
“I spoil them when I’m in love.”

15.) “1 Thing”
Amerie
At long last, a song from a Will Smith soundtrack that Will Smith DOESN’T rap! Producer Rich Harrison was making the rounds during this time when it came time to infectious samples in current songs (whether it was Beyoncé’s “Crazy In Love” or J.Lo’s “Get Right”). He and Amerie don’t let us down with this adorable dance track, all talking about that one thing that makes us all fall hard.
“Nothin’ left to do but to keep on seeing you.”

14.) “My Love”
Justin Timberlake & T.I.
Back before the Biebs brought us “As Long As You Love Me”, the original white bog with serious swagger gave us this little jam to bust a move to. With its melody and signature Timbaland beat, this sweet love song was proof that Justin could still be adorable WITHOUT the curly hair.
“This ring here represents my heart and everything that you’ve been waiting for…”

13.) “Without You”
David Guetta & Usher
Who says that club music can’t be romantic and beautiful too? The lyrics to this song are true for any kind of relationship, whether it be family, a friend, or a significant other. Nothing says I love you more than saying that nothing else matters without them in your life.
“If you’re not here, I’m paralyzed.”

12.) “You’re Still the One”
Shania Twain
Never mind the fact that the man she wrote this song for ended up leaving her for her best friend. There still is a beautiful message in this song that despite all of those who may say that nothing lasts forever and it won’t work out, love can still exist and that special one will still be there. After all, the silver lining is that she ended up with her friend’s husband too!
“Look how far we’ve come my baby…”

11.) “Take Care”
Drake & Rihanna
Through the rough times in life and all of the heartbreak that comes before, nothing beats having someone there for you, willing to take on the pain and take care of everything going wrong.
“Dealing with a heart that I didn’t break…”
