2012 Golden Globe Winner Predictions (Original Score, Original Song, Animated Feature, Screenplay, and Director)

I will be a lot more prepared when it comes time for the Oscars, but for now (seeing as how the Golden Globes are THIS Sunday, here are my predictions for the winners…

Best Original Score
Ludovic Bource – The Artist
Abel Korzeniowski – W.E.
Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross – The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
Howard Shore – Hugo
John Williams – War Horse
WHO SHOULD WIN: Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. I’m hoping that they win 2 years in a row. It’s time to recognize DIFFERENT kinds of scores, not just the classic orchestra.
WHO WILL WIN: ???

Best Original Song
“Hello Hello” (Elton John & Bernie Taupin) – Gnomeo & Juliet
“The Keeper” (Chris Cornell) – Machine Gun Preacher
“Lay Your Head Down” (Brian Byrne & Glenn Close) – Albert Nobbs
“The Living Proof” (Thomas Newman, Mary J. Blige, Harvey Mason, Jr., & Damon Thomas) – The Help
“Masterpiece” (Madonna, Julie Frost, & Jimmy Harry) – W.E.
WHO SHOULD WIN: It really should be one of the songs from The Muppets, but seeing as how they were shut out for at least one nomination because of Madonna (boo), I’ll go with Mary J. Blige’s beautiful “The Living Proof” from The Help.
WHO WILL WIN: ???

Best Animated Feature Film
The Adventures of Tintin
Arthur Christmas
Cars 2
Puss In Boots
Rango
WHO SHOULD WIN: The Adventures of Tintin. BTW, personally I think Kung Fu Panda 2 or Rio should’ve been nominated instead of Cars 2.
WHO WILL WIN: The Adventures of Tintin

Best Screenplay
Woody Allen – Midnight in Paris
George Clooney, Grant Heslov, & Beau Willimon – The Ides of March
Michael Hazanavicius – The Artist
Alexander Payne, Nat Faxon, & Jim Rash – The Descendants
Steven Zaillian & Aaron Sorkin – Moneyball
WHO SHOULD WIN: Alexander Payne, Nat Faxon, & Jim Rash for The Descendants
WHO WILL WIN: Alexander Payne, Nat Faxon, & Jim Rash for The Descendants, although Woody Allen could easily sneak this one…

Best Director
Woody Allen – Midnight in Paris
George Clooney – The Ides of March
Michael Hazanavicius – The Artist
Alexander Payne – The Descendants
Martin Scorsese – Hugo
WHO SHOULD WIN: Alexander Payne for The Descendants
WHO WILL WIN: I think it’s a hard toss-up between Payne and Hazanavicius, especially with all of the hype surrounding The Artist.
