Best Pop Solo Performance
ADELE – “Rolling In The Deep”
Beyoncé – “Run The World (Girls)”
Bruno Mars – “Grenade”
Katy Perry – “Firework”
Lady GaGa – “Born This Way”
ADELE of course is an obvious pick for this category. Beyoncé deserves one for her powerhouse, yet sinfully underrated first single. Bruno Mars deserves some more attention for his debut album that came out last October (and seeing as how “Just The Way You Are” was already nominated last year, it only makes sense to go with the second choice, “Grenade”). Katy Perry certainly has plenty of hits to contribute to this category, but “Firework” is the most inspirational and probably the most well-known. Let’s not forget about GaGa’s inspirational anthem for all the gays!
And other possibilities:
ADELE – “Someone Like You”
Beyoncé – “Best Thing I Never Had”
Britney Spears – “Till The World Ends”
Britney Spears – “I Wanna Go”
Christina Perri – “Jar of Hearts”
Colbie Caillat – “I Do”
Demi Lovato – “Skyscraper”
Jessie J – “Domino”
Katy Perry – “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)”
Ke$ha – “Blow”
Lady GaGa – “The Edge of Glory”
Lady GaGa – "You and I"
Willow – “Whip My Hair”
Best Pop Duo/Group Performance
Chris Brown & Justin Bieber – “Next 2 You”
Coldplay – “Paradise”
Maroon 5 & Christina Aguilera – “Moves Like Jagger”
OneRepublic – “Good Life”
Rihanna & Britney Spears – “S&M”
The collaboration between Chris Brown and Justin Bieber fit so well. The Biebs is all grown up and with a deeper voice that matched Chris Brown’s nicely. Coldplay is always due for a nomination in this category. Maroon 5 and Christina Aguilera’s hit is another shoe-in for this category. Let’s not forget about OneRepublic’s quiet success with “Good Life”, as well as the interesting duet between Rihanna & Britney Spears.
And other possibilities:
Black Eyed Peas – “Just Can’t Get Enough”
Foster The People – “Pumped Up Kicks”
Hot Chelle Rae – “Tonight Tonight”
Best Pop Vocal Album
ADELE – 21
Britney Spears – Femme Fattale
Bruno Mars – Doo-Wops & Hooligans
Lady GaGa – Born This Way
Rihanna – Loud
All of these are obvious shoe-ins. ADELE: check. Britney Spears’ coming back story again: check. Bruno Mars simplistic genius of a debut: check. Lady GaGa’s much-hyped album: check. Rihanna’s return to dominate the Top 40 airwaves with upbeat music: check.
And other possibilities:
Colbie Caillat – All of You
Jennifer Lopez – Love?
Jessie J – Who You Are
