The Top 13 Moments of the 2013 Grammy's

13.) The dresses of Jennifer Lopez
For the first award of the night, my girl Jennifer Lopez stepped out like she always does, turning heads and wowing us with her sexy and beautiful presence. But it was her nod to the ridiculous dress code put in place for the ceremony that had me smiling. Way to stick it to “The Man”.

12.) ADELE’s victory speech
It’s always a delight to hear ADELE speak, especially after she wins an award. Her bubbling personality makes it all so heartwarming, and her comment about Jennifer Lopez being her good luck charm made my night!

11.) Frank Ocean & Forrest Gump
The respect and admiration I have for this man is through the roof. Here he was, stripped down, honest, real, and raw, giving us his emotions and that sweet voice of his. Well done sir!

10.) Staying around for Rihanna
Over the years, Rihanna has helped define the world of pop music and has certainly gotten stronger with her vocal abilities as well from her “Pon de Replay” days. Singing my favorite song from her most recent album, “Stay” was done justice live tonight and Rihanna looked and sounded beautiful! With the exception of the cutaway shot to Chris Brown, everything about this performance was perfect. Not to mention Mikky Ekko is pretty much adorable!

9.) The Black Keys in New Orleans
I know it’s terrible to admit that I have never listened to The Black Keys before nor did I ever have an interest in doing so. But man oh man they killed it with their energetic performance of “Lonely Boy” with Dr. John and The Preservation Hall Jazz Band! Eclectic and fun, they all had me excited to listen!
(I could've done without Dr. John's crazy outfit though. Leave that to Cee-Lo!)

8.) Maroon 5 & Alicia Keys Mash-Up
Two different genres, two different artists, and two different songs, yet they sounded so well together. Taking the “OH”s from both Maroon 5’s “Daylight” and Alicia Keys’ “Girl on Fire” was genius, not to mention Adam and Alicia’s beautiful harmonies, but the best moment was seeing Ms. Keys step away from the piano and beat those drums like she was doing them a favor. GET IT GIRL!

7.) Jamming for Bob Marley
It started with Bruno Mars bringing his “Locked Out of Heaven” hit to the stage with Sting. It was great to see all of the other guests in attendance singing the same song (yes I’m talking to you Taylor Swift, Neil Patrick Harris, ADELE, & Keith Urban). But then the house came down with Rihanna and Ziggy & Damian Marley, breaking out the special tribute to Bob Marley with “And Be Loved”. The energy was so electric and lively, and everyone was on their feet dancing and singing and being together as one through music. It was a beautiful moment

6.) Record of the Year
To start off…there was Prince and his pimp cane. Why? Because he’s Prince! Then there was the sweet moment when he opened the envelope and exclaimed that he loved the song that was winning, which happened to be Gotye & Kimbra’s “Somebody That I Used To Know”. Then came a moment which I think the Grammy’s was made for: an artist from a different generation and most certainly a different genre acknowledged the legend that is Prince for inspiring him to create music. To see this moment and take the time to respectfully admire other artists was beautiful.
Now hopefully that got Kimbra’s ridiculous outfit out of our minds…

5.) Kelly Clarkson is precious!
Kelly is such an adorable presence no matter what she’s doing. She always makes people feel comfortable and welcome, even when accepting her own award. Going up to the stage, she embraced other artists in her category, complimented Katy Perry on her revealing dress, and got stuck to Miranda Lambert. But leave it to Kelly to make yet another plea for a future duet when she called out Miguel for his sexified performance prior.

4.) Jay-Z’s swap meet comment
It’s the Grammy’s…DRESS UP! It’s not too much to ask. Everyone else showed off their best outfits and ensembles, but you’ll always have the odd balls among the rest. Of course leave it to Jay-Z to make a last minute comment about The-Dream’s ghetto-inspired attire.

3.) Let us adore Miguel
A little strange that this was a short introduction to the Best Country Solo Performance, but Miguel still brought it despite the circumstances. From the piano-playing to the sexy falsetto, Miguel never sounded better live, and he certainly embraced it from the moment he opened his mouth.

2.) Justin Timberlake brings sexy AND classy back
A lot has been riding on this big comeback, especially since no one knew when Mr. Timberlake would make it back into music. Needless to say he got the party started right with his classy “Suit & Tie” jam session complete with his swag-filled back-up dancers, his full orchestra and horn section, and a special appearance from Hova himself. It was in his second song “Pusher Love Girl” that brought the side step back and really got everyone there moving to the groove.

1.) Kelly Clarkson tribute to Pattie Page & Carole King
It goes without saying that Kelly Clarkson is one in a million when it comes to her personality and her voice. This special tribute performance for two pioneering women was spectacular from start to finish. No gimmicks, no fireworks, no backup dancers; just an electric guitar, a piano, and that voice! From the sweet coos, the power house register, and the passion, Kelly killed it with those two songs, especially with King’s classic female anthem.
