2012 Golden Globes Nominations (Motion Picture, Best Actor/Actress)

Best Motion Picture
Drama
The Descendants
Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close
The Help
Moneyball
War Horse

The Descendants is a sure bet to get nominated (since it’s been getting nominated for every other award show so far!) Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close is another one of those movies getting some award buzz. The Help is an obvious choice in my eyes. Moneyball is a solid pick. And War Horse just seems to make sense (although it could be Hugo as well).

Musical or Comedy
The Artist
Bridesmaids
Crazy Stupid Love
Midnight in Paris
Young Adult

The Artist is going to be the adorable choice to be nominated. Bridesmaids, being the biggest breakout comedy of the year, only makes sense to get nominated in this category. Crazy Stupid Love was such a great, well-written, well-acted romantic comedy. Midnight in Paris is sure to be recognized in the comedy section as well. As will the dark comedy Young Adult.

Best Actor
Drama
George Clooney – The Descendants
Leonardo DiCaprio – J. Edgar
Michael Fassbender – Shame
Ryan Gosling - Drive
Brad Pitt – Moneyball

George Clooney was outstanding as usual. Leonardo DiCaprio is always a great choice. Michael Fassbender has been getting a lot of buzz for his revealing role in Shame. Ryan Gosling was pure perfection in Drive. And Brad Pitt was a knockout once again.

Musical or Comedy
Steve Carell – Crazy Stupid Love
Jean Dujardin – The Artist
Joseph Gordon-Levitt – 50/50
Ryan Gosling – Crazy Stupid Love
Jason Segel – The Muppets

Steve Carell finally gets a perfect part in a wonderful film that is very different from Michael Scott on The Office. Jean Dujardin is also getting a lot of buzz for The Artist. Joseph Gordon-Levitt had a great balance of genuine humor and heartbreaking dramatic action. Ryan Gosling was THE standout from Crazy Stupid Love with his suave subtlety. And Jason Segal pulled double duty by writing and starring in The Muppets. GENIUS!

Best Actress
Drama
Glenn Close – Albert Nobbs
Viola Davis – The Help
Meryl Streep – The Iron Lady
Tilda Swinton – We Need To Talk About Kevin
Michelle Williams – My Week With Marilyn

Any woman who plays a man always ends up with a nomination it seems, so here’s to Glenn Close. Much like Octavia Spencer, Viola Davis WILL get nominated and WILL win. Meryl Streep will of course get nominated once again. Tilda Swinton and Michelle Williams are both surefire picks as well for their talked-about roles.

Musical or Comedy
Julia Roberts – Larry Crowne
Maya Rudolph – Bridesmaids
Emma Stone – Crazy Stupid Love
Charlize Theron – Young Adult
Kristen Wiig – Bridesmaids

Julia Roberts is always a Golden Globes favorite. Maya Rudolph is the forgotten gem that deserves to be recognized. Emma Stone was adorable and deserves another nomination along with her nomination last year for Easy A. Charlize Theron is sure to get nominated being one of the frontrunners for comedies this year. And Kristen Wiig pulled double duty (much like Jason Segal did) by writing and starring in THE funniest (and one of the best) films of the year.
